On February 24, 2025, in Chhidamhat, Pirgacha, Rangpur, an extremist mob of 500-600 people, led by local leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami, violently attacked Hezbut Tawheed members. Homes and shops were looted and burned, at least 20 people were injured, including 7 critically, and 40 families were forcibly displaced. Despite the presence of law enforcement, no action was taken against the attackers. Instead, victims are facing arrests and harassment.

This is not the first time Hezbut Tawheed has been attacked. Over 500 extremist attacks have targeted Hezbut Tawheed members in the past, simply because Hezbut Tawheed promotes the true teachings of Islam and opposes extremism. Five members have been beaten and slaughtered to death, yet no one has been held accountable for these heinous crimes.

This is a grave violation of human rights, including Articles 19 & 20 of the UDHR. We call on the international community, human rights organizations, and diplomatic missions to take immediate action to ensure justice and accountability.
