The Central Kachi-Kachhar Mela in Dhaka has come alive with a variety of events organized by the youth organization 'Tarunyer Sabha.'
On Friday, July 5, at 3 pm, a dynamic array of activities including a discussion meeting, cultural program, poetry recital, and award distribution took place at the Central Kochi Kachar Mela auditorium. These events were part of the 'Tarunyer Sabha - Youth Assembly' initiative and attracted a large and enthusiastic crowd of young people.
Hossain Mohammad Salim, the Imam of the non-political movement Hezbut Tawheed, served as the chief guest at the event titled 'Role of Youth in Countering Extremism.' The program also featured special guests such as Ayesha Siddika, President of Tarunyer Sabha; Khadija Khatun, Chief Advisor of Hezbut Tawheed; Moshiour Rahman, International Publicity Secretary; Dr. Mahbub Alam Mahfuz, Tarunyer Sabha Advisor and President of Dhaka Metropolitan Hezbut Tawheed; Rufaidah Panni, Editor of Daily Desherpatra; Riyadul Hasan, Literature Editor of Hezbut Tawheed; and SM Samsul Huda, Editor of Daily Bajrashakti. Playwright, recitor, and actor Obaydul Haque Badal, along with Tarunyer Sabha member Nausheen Amin, moderated the program.
In his speech, Hossain Mohammad Salim emphasized, "Youth is the main strength of the nation. To weaken and degrade a nation, the first strike is on its youth. The instruments of this injury are evil forces such as bad culture, drugs, poor education, and corrupt politics. During the British era, the East India Company started opium cultivation in the fertile lands of India. Their intention was to keep the youth intoxicated with opium, thereby weakening their ability to rebel against the company's misrule."
He continued, "To subjugate the youth, the British introduced a conspiratorial two-stream system of education: madrasa education and general education. Their goal was for madrasa education to produce a population unfit for the modern world, lacking life skills and indifferent to national affairs. Meanwhile, the general education system created a class to run the colony, instilled with a sense of inferiority and blind devotion to Europeans. No ideology, no patriotism, and no sense of justice were instilled in their hearts. Although British rule is no more, their education system persists. Our youth are still conflicted about education."
The event commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran and a welcome speech by President Ayesha Siddika. This was followed by the performance of the youth meeting's theme song 'Amra Tarun Sena' and a documentary film showcasing the organization's progress and activities. Throughout the event, slogans like "Youth Pledge, Stop Injustice," "The Society Will Thrive, the Nation Will Survive," and "From All Sides, We Hear the Triumph of Youth" resonated in the hall.
The program concluded with music and poetry performances by members of Tarunyer Sabha. Additionally, the top five winners of an essay competition held in honor of Hezbut Tawheed's founder, Imamuzzaman Mohammad Bayazeed Khan Panni, were awarded. The event ended with a closing speech by the President.
