Hezbut Tawheed Demands Security and Legal Action Against Extremist Incitement in Uttara

DHAKA, BANGLADESH — At a press conference held on Wednesday at the Uttara Press Club, leaders of the non-political religious reformist group Hezbut Tawheed called for immediate state protection and strict legal action against local extremist groups attempting to incite mob violence against their organization, central office, and leadership.

During the briefing, the group presented a 3-point demand urging law enforcement to guarantee the safety of its members, protect its central office in Uttara and the residence of its Supreme Leader, Imam Hossain Mohammad Salim, and prosecute those engineering hate campaigns.

Immediate Threats and Misinformation Campaign
Organizational leaders warned of an escalating, targeted campaign run by a Qawmi-madrasa-centric faction in Uttara. According to speakers, this group is distributing defamatory handbills, organizing online smear campaigns, and using local mosque pulpits during Friday sermons to incite worshippers and orchestrate artificial mob violence aimed at damaging life and property.

"Bangladesh is an independent and sovereign nation where every group has the constitutional right to systematically convey its ideology," stated Dr. Mahbub Alam Mahfuz, President of Hezbut Tawheed's Dhaka Division, who delivered the keynote address. "We call on the public and authorities to remain vigilant against those attempting to infringe upon these lawful rights."

Organizational Background
Founded in 1995, Hezbut Tawheed has operated for 31 years as a non-political reform movement focused on spreading authentic Islamic values. Speakers emphasized that the organization maintains an unblemished record with zero history of unlawful activity throughout its existence.

Key Attendees
The press conference was hosted by the Uttara Zone of Hezbut Tawheed. Key speakers included Central Joint General Secretary Md. Mashiur Rahman and Student Affairs Secretary Mokhlesur Rahman Sumon. Other prominent leaders present were Shahidul Islam, President of Uttara Hezbut Tawheed, and Shariful Islam, President of the Uttara-Gazipur Zone.
