Allegations of Violating Administrative Conditions, Calls for Urgent Government Intervention and Security

Dhaka, August 1, 2026: Hezbut Tawheed held a press conference protesting the organization of an inciting gathering by Hefazat-e-Islam in Noakhali in the name of a Waz Mahfil, the continuous dissemination of falsehoods, and repeated threats. At the same time, the organization called for immediate government action to stop these conspiracies and ensure the safety and security of the lives and property of its members.

The press conference was held today, Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the auditorium of the Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB), where the organization’s Joint General Secretary, S. M. Shamsul Huda, and President of Dhaka Metropolitan Hezbut Tawheed, Dr. Mahbub Alam Mahfuz, spoke on the matter.

In his written statement, Dr. Mahbub Alam Mahfuz said that today, a Qawmi madrasa-based group is holding an illegal and riot-inciting gathering against Hezbut Tawheed at the Noakhali Zilla School field, violating the conditions imposed by the administration for the approved Waz Mahfil.

The permission letter issued by the Superintendent of Police of Noakhali prohibits speeches against any particular organization. Despite this, the group has clearly violated the law and the conditions of the permission through the wording on its banners and statements made at the gathering.

For the past 10–15 days, provocative sermons have been delivered in mosques and extremist leaflets have been distributed throughout Noakhali, Feni and Lakshmipur as part of a conspiracy to create disorder at the village home of a Hezbut Tawheed imam in Sonaimuri, Noakhali. Even in Uttara, Dhaka, provocative processions have been held and threats have been issued in front of the organization’s central office.

He further said that despite Hezbut Tawheed’s complete belief in the fundamental tenets of Islam—including belief in Allah, the prophets and messengers, the Quran, prayer and fasting—we are being deliberately labeled “kafir” and calls are being made to ban the organization in an attempt to provoke the general public against us.

Yet, over the past 31 years, Hezbut Tawheed has never violated the law and has been acquitted by the courts in more than five hundred cases.

On the contrary, the public has witnessed serious misconduct—including child sexual abuse, torture and the creation of mobs—taking place in madrasas and mosques operated by the very group that is demanding that Hezbut Tawheed be banned. Therefore, if anyone is to be banned, it would be just and appropriate to ban them instead.

The speakers also referred to previous acts of violence against Hezbut Tawheed. They said that in 2016, in Sonaimuri, an attack was carried out from a similar gathering, in which two members of the organization were brutally killed by throat-slitting, while homes were burned.

Due to the recent incitement and threats, our members are once again facing extreme insecurity concerning their lives and property.

In this situation, in order to maintain peace and public order in the country, we strongly demand that the government immediately bring those involved in these provocative activities under the law and ensure the safety and security of the lives and property of Hezbut Tawheed members.
